We all know that schools are seriously underfunded and many teachers have great ideas but just don’t have the funds to move their idea to a reality in the classroom. That is why I am so excited to team up with Donors Choose and Savings.com on a great program.

Get inspired - What are you passionate about? The environment? Water color painting? A book you’re reading? Narrow projects by subject area, or search for what you care about in the keyword box.
Get choosy – Sort your search results by cost, poverty level, or popularity…whatever matters most to you.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Flirty Fashions Grand Opening Party for their new store at Partridge Creek. It was a great event with live models highlighting the store’s fun and trendy fashions.

The original Flirty Fashions store was located in downtown Rochester, Mi but is relocating to Rochester Hills. The new location is on Auburn & South Rochester Rd. right in between Luv and Target. Both stores carry trendy clothing, dresses, shoes and accessories for women of all ages.

Del Monte Fresh – Teacher Monday Contest and #Giveaway

This fall Del Monte Fresh is holding its second annual online contest, “Teacher Monday: Cash for Classrooms.” The program awards cash and fresh fruit to kindergarten thru 12^th grade school teachers across North America to encourage them to incorporate healthy eating and living messages into classroom activities. Sixty teachers will win a total of $1,000 in cash to purchase school supplies and fresh fruit for their students.

To be eligible to win, teachers must register for “Teacher Monday: Cash for Classrooms” online contest and then encourage all their fans to vote for them online. Ten winners will be selected each Monday for six consecutive weeks in October and November 2011. Winners are based solely on the number of votes they receive. Winning teachers will receive $750 in cash to purchase school supplies and $250 in Del Monte fresh fruit coupons for classroom snacks and to use in fruit educational activities.

Even though this contest has already started, teachers can still apply and voting starts fresh each week. So be sure to let your teachers know about this great contest

You can vote for your favorite teacher daily in Del Monte Fresh’s Teacher Monday: Cash for Classrooms online contest. So they can help educate kids about eating healthier.

Spookley The Square Pumpkin Movie and #Giveaway

Looking for a fun frugal Halloween activity? Why not go see a matinee of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. Spookley is my favorite pumpkin and I’m so happy he’s back with Kidtoons this month! October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Spookley the Square Pumpkin has been named the official Spokes-Pumpkin through a partnership with PACER Center. PACER, a national organization based in Minneapolis, Minn., works to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life of all children and young adults, including those with any disability, and their families, based on the concept of parents helping parents . “The culture of bullying won’t end until people across the country take action and show children and teens that they care,” says Julie Hertzog, director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, which sponsors the month. “We love the way Spookley touches the heart and the mind with his message of tolerance and acceptance.” For my local readers, Spookley is showing at Emagine Theaters.

Here’s the synopsis for Spookley the Square Pumpkin: In a world where “the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins,” Spookley the Square Pumpkin is often teased by the other pumpkins because of his square shape. Soon, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders, who convince Spookley that, square or not, he has a right to be the “Pick of the Patch” on Halloween. A square pumpkin the “Pick of the Patch”? Not if mean round pumpkins Big Tom and Little Tom can help it. These two bullies tease and taunt Spookley because of his square roots. Although he is encouraged to continue to become the “Pick of the Patch” by kindly Jack Scarecrow and his bat sidekicks, Boris and Bella, Spookley isn’t sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rolls the round pumpkins across the patch towards a raging river below, Spookley’s square shape helps him save the day. Spookley realizes “it’s fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it’s better to be a square!”

You can check out the Kidtoons website to find the participating theater nearest you. When I did that, I found that the cost to see the movie at the theater nearest me is just $3 a person. If you have checked on the prices before, you might want to again because Kidtoons ticket pricing has been reduced in some locations.

If you have never heard of Kidtoons, here is a bit more about them. They are dedicated to helping parents connect with their kids by bringing family friendly animated movies to the big screen every weekend at participating theatres across the country. Participating Kidtoons theatres showcase a fun, affordable family friendly matinee movie and provide a family experience filled with entertaining, kid-friendly characters, as well as cartoon shorts, music videos and sing-alongs before each movie. They even have fun giveaways for the kids, such as stickers, temporary tattoos, activity books or toys after every film.

Discovery Girls Magazine Review and #Giveaway

Somehow my little girl has turned into a tween and with that comes all kinds of new issues to deal with and explore. That is why I was glad to learn about Discovery Girls magazine.

Discovery Girls is a destination where tween girls can express themselves, share ideas, connect with other girls and discover helpful tips for handling life’s ups and downs. Discovery Girls articles and features are written by girls, for girls–which means their content touches on topics that really matters to tweens. Their goal is to help girls grow and develop, forming a positive sense of self through solutions that build confidence, resilience and independence. I love how the magazine doesn’t try to be too grown up and that the girls in the magazine are “real girls”.

They consider all their readers to be “Discovery Girls” — girls who are curious, strong, and enthusiastic about becoming the very best they can be. (I LOVE all those attributes!) In each issue of Discovery Girls, they feature 12 “Discovery Girls” they’ve chosen to represent the state in the magazine. Every other month, they visit a different state for a two-day photo shoot, during which the 12 Discovery Girls from that state help put together the issue.

Overall, I found the magazines to be very age appropriate and great content for tweens. My daughter said that she loved the Discovery Girls magazines. She especially liked that it had stories written by the girls themselves.

Zulily iPhone App and $25 Credit Giveaway

If you have been a fan of the Bargain Shopper Mom site for awhile or read my about me page, you know that I have a weakness for boutique children’s clothing. Getting it for a bargain is challenging. However, one place to find it at zulily.com.

Zulily is fabulous online store offering daily sales on top-quality apparel, gear and other goodies for moms, babies and kids. Members can enjoy savings of up to 70% off retail prices—not to mention discover some exciting new brands and products. I have bought from them many many times and been very happy with my orders.

Plus they have amazing customer service. Every single person I know who had an issue with a Zulily order can not believe how well they are treated. This goes a long way when shopping online.

They only problem I have ever had is that they have such wonderful things at such great prices that sometimes items sell out fast. So you really want to look at the sales coming up. These are listed on the left hand side of their homepage. If something looks good, you need to be ready to shop at 9:00 a.m EST when the sale goes live.

Getting on the computer at that time can be difficult so Zulily has added an iphone app. Now members can shop Zulily from bed before the kids wake up, during their morning commute or while waiting in the car during soccer practice.

Since Zulily is a member online website, you do need to sign up to see the daily sales. This is a great way to help your money go father.
